Carbon steel pipe is a kind of long steel which is made of ingot or solid round steel by perforation, and then hot rolled, cold or cold drawn. The steel pipe has a hollow section, so it is primarily made for the transportation of fluids, gas, pellets, powders and so on, such as oil, natural gas and water. As for carbon steel pipes, Typical material grades in API 5L Grade B, X42 to X70, ASTM A106 B, ASTM A53 B, ASTM A252 Grade 3 and ASTM A333 Grade 6 etc.
Carbon steel can be broadly classified into the following broad groups:
- Low carbon steels-0.05% to 0.25% carbon
- Medium carbon steels-0.25% to 0.5% carbon
- High carbon steels-0.5% and greater
