What is Schedule 40 and 80 seamless carbon steel pipe?

What is the difference between Schedule 40 vs Schedule 80?
Sch 40 and sch 80 pipe are made from the same material. The difference in structure lies in the thickness of pipe wall; the higher the schedule, the thicker the wall of the pipe.
- The major difference between schedule 40 and schedule 80 pipe is the wall thickness, inside diameter, and their weight. Schedule 80 will have a greater wall thickness, a smaller inside diameter and a higher weight than Schedule 40 pipe at a given nominal pipe size.
- Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipes are also different in their cost. As Schedule 80 pipes consist of more materials, the price is considerably higher than Schedule 40 pipes. Schedule 80 pipes are also more costly as the cost of production is greater.
- If high water temperatures or high-pressure pipes are required, Schedule 80 is best because it can withstand greater pressures and temperatures than Schedule 40 pipes.
