Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe

Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe

What is Carbon steel seamless pipe?

Carbon steel seamless pipe is a kind of long steel with hollow cross section and no joint around. It  has a hollow cross section, a large number of used for conveying fluid pipelines, such as conveying oil, natural gas, gas, water and some solid materials pipelines.

Compared with solid steel such as round steel, It has the same bending and torsional strength and is light in weight. It is an economic cross-section steel, widely used in the manufacture of structural parts and mechanical parts, such as oil drill pipe, automobile drive shaft, bicycle frame and steel scaffolding used in construction, etc.

In the description of steel pipe parameters, the pipe schedule is usually used. The pipe schedule  (sch.) is not a wall thickness schedule, but a wall thickness series. Different pipe lengths mean different wall thicknesses of steel pipes of the same diameter. The most frequently indications of schedule are SCH 10, 10S, 20, 20S, 30, 40, 40S, 60, 80, 80S, 100, 120, 140, 160. The larger the table number, the thicker the surface pipe wall, the higher the pressure resistance.

Carbon steel seamless pipes of schedule 40 and 80 are universal sizes required by different industries, and they are in great demand because they generally bear great pressure. There is no limit to pipe standards of this thickness, you can ask sch40 carbon steel seamless pipe, such as API 5L, ASTM A53, ASTM A106B, a179, A252, A333, etc.

The difference between stainless steel seamless pipe and carbon steel seamless pipe.

The so-called stainless steel seamless pipe and carbon steel seamless pipe difference, mainly refers to the stainless steel and carbon steel in the design rules of the difference, that is to say, the two kinds of steel design rules are not universal. These differences are summarized as follows:

Stainless steel design rules can not be used for carbon steel because there are three fundamental differences between stainless steel and carbon steel:

First, cold working stainless steel work hardening, for example, bending with anisotropy, namely: transverse and longitudinal performance is different.

The strength increased by cold working can be used, but if the bending area is small compared with the total area and the increase is ignored, the strength increase can improve the safety factor to a certain extent.

Second, the shape of the stress/strain curve is different.

The elastic limit of stainless steel is about 50% of the yield stress, which is lower than that of medium carbon steel as far as the minimum value specified in the standard is concerned.

Third, stainless steel has no yield point, usually to 60.2 to represent the yield stress is considered to be the value.

Carbon steel seamless pipe suppliers

As a leading supplier of carbon steel pipe fitting, Beijing Metleader Pipeline Technology Inc. was established in 1982 and is a well-known manufacturer, trader and supplier of carbon steel pipes. Recently we exported a batch of carbon steel seamless pipe to India for application of oil pipeline. The quality has been confirmed by customer, they are planning to explore other end user.
