The difference between weld neck flanges and slip-on flanges
1.The forms of their welds are different. The weld form of flange pipe and flange neck flat welding is fillet welding, while the weld form of flange pipe and flange neck butt welding is ring welding.
2. Their materials are different. The slip neck flange is made by ordinary steel plate machine according to the required thickness, while the welding neck flange is made by machine processing with forged steel parts.
3. Their nominal pressure is not the same. welding neck flange nominal pressure is 0.6 — 4.0MPa. Slip on flange nominal pressure is 1 — 25MPa.
4. In addition, the connection between welding neck flange and pipeline belongs to Class B joints. The connection between sliding sleeve flange and pipeline belongs to class C joints, and the NDT after welding is different.

5. If the product needs to be replaced, it is necessary to contact professionals. Individuals can not replace the slip neck flange and welding neck flange at will. In terms of manufacturing Angle, the SLIP neck flange (SO is short for SLIP ON) has a large inner diameter, small weight, and low cost. In addition, slip neck flanges with nominal diameters greater than 250mm need to be tested. SO flanges do not need to be tested. So the cost is relatively low.
6. Combined with the above mentioned, the big difference between the two products lies in the connection mode of pipe and flange. The flange of the former is generally connected through the flange Angle. While the flange of the latter is the butt connection between the flange and the pipe.

7. The flange of the former can only be connected with the pipe, but can not be directly connected with the butt welding pipe fitting. Generally, welded neck flanges can be attached directly to all butt-welded fittings, including pipes.
8. However, the stiffness of the latter flange is greater than that of the former flange. And the strength of butt welding is higher than that of the flat welding flange, which is not easy to leak. This place is a big difference between the two.
